I have a line on a front suspension off a 74S. Need to verify, but Green struts, 3.5" calipers, sway bay, complete and just removed from car.
1) what is a fair price if it is typical condition ( I haven't gotten a chance to see it yet.) and
2) any advantage to finding one off a later model , like an SC? Should I prefer the S or A calipers?
Thanks guys! cool_shades.gif

You want S or M calipers. A calipers are 3" if I remember right. I got a complete one for $250 at a swap meet, and I thought that was a great price. Brakes needed rebuilding though. It has M calipers, S would be worth more. (S calipers are aluminum, do a magnet test if you're in doubt) Green struts are probably Bilsteins.

No, A and S have the 3.5" spacing. M is 3".

3.5" front ends go for around $500 in my experience.

I just bought a complete '79 SC front end less aluminum cross member for $250.00.

Damn, I always get that messed up, and was sure I had finally gotten it straight. Sorry for the misinformation!

M's and A's are big heavy steel calipers with internal brake passages....

S's are aluminum, and appear to have the brake passage that connects each half external. and some say they flex....

I feel a bit more certain as to what I should be willing to pay.

(I thought I subscribed to this thread but didn't see any emails...)

That's a good price...I suppose the better prices are from private parties (you have to be forunate in the timing) and should expect to pay a slight premium from used part dealers.
