I need to clean off the grunge on the bottom of my motor and trans to find an oil leak. How long would you recommend that I let it cool after a 6 or 7 mile drive before I hit it with the washer?

Anything I should avoid with high pressure on the bottom of a /6?

An hour?

Two hours?

Okay, they are cool enough to touch with my lips so?

I question why it would need to cool much at all. The bottom gets pretty wet when driven in the rain and nothing seems to break.

Sounds like you need new floors (or diapers)



An hour sould be more than enough time to let it cool before hosing it down with the pressure washer.

just my opinion.

I like that "Gunk" brand foaming engine de-greaser and the pressure of a garden hose, myself.

Drive up on ramps and you're ready.
I would wait until the exhaust stops boiling the degreaser, temp-wise.

there's a vent on top of your tranny that you might want to avoid ...

if the oil can get out, the water *will* get in, especially if it's under pressure ...

might want to fix the big oil-leak first ...
