Decided to plum for it after doing a compression test this weekend with plugs out, so theoritically no compression to fight against & the old starter was wayyyyy slow. Battery is good as is voltage. Will post results of new starter in a week or so.

Another option is to get a 73-on 911 starter. They are 1.5 hp where the stock one is .8 hp. You may or may not have a clearence problem with the aftermarket one.

Don't bid on it if it goes over $115. That's what you can buy them for from a guy on Samba.com. Serrero I think is his name. Sells them all the time.
