When working on my car tonight I noticed the wheels turn farther to the left than they do to the right? I confirmed this by turning the steering wheel and noted that it turns 1.25 turns to the right and 1.5+ turns to the left? Is this a sign there is something amiss (it is a salvage car and the front clip has been replaced) or is this something common among all 914's? The car seems to handle and steer OK. Any ideas what could cause this?

Is your steering wheel centered?

guessing also that one tie rod is way longer than the other?

the tierods are not adusted properly.
measure both sides from where it mounts to the strut and to the steering rack, it will most likely be different. fix is to take to the alignment shop and tell them the problem they should be able to fixit. you might have to reclock the steering wheel afterward.
