im going to install a 19mm fartory front sway bar

what do i need to change my rear springs to, to make it ride flat?

i want minimal body roll but i also dont want it to be an unbearable driver

im planning on changing the shocks to bilstein sports as soon as i get up the money

id also like to lower it an inch if possible, that and id also like the stiffening kit from engman, im not sure when ill have the money but id like to

so what would y'all suggest?

140 lb rear springs is the most common with a stock front bar and no rear bar.

The (anti-)sway bar makes the inside wheel on the corner push down harder, it seems to me you would be more likely to lift the inside rear tire without the rear bar. You would be better served putting a rear bar on than trying to control this with springs. The sway bars will not do much if you are going straight, it will ride flat already.

I thought the stock bar was like 14mm? What 19mm bar is this? I have an aftermarket 19mm front bar with 165 progressive springs. It looks good on jackstands cool_shades.gif

Thats assuming the road is perfectly flat. In reality the suspension deflects a lot on the street because of bumps and imperfections.

A rear sway bar has been known to cause push (understeer) with a bigger front bar in auto cross situations.

Jim....we have a miscommunication here

The bar is either the 15?mm stock one off a 914 or whatever the size is on a '67 911 (prolly the same)

If these don't fit your needs, I won't ship it.

Go with that 19mm front bar, leave the rear springs and go with a factory rear bar. Once you've got the rear bar in you can decide if you've got oversteer or understeer and to what degree.

Unless he buys a whole SC front end, the underbody won't work Brandon.
Dave_Darling
Unless you can weld, I wouldn't bother with the rear bar. You gotta weld the mounts onto the trunk floor, which may be more hassle than it's worth.

If the bar is a stock 15mm front sway bar, I'd leave the rear springs alone. See how you like the way the car handles with that setup. If you think it pushes too much, I'd consider going to 100 lb/in rear springs.

If the bar is a 19mm adjustable one, I would recommend either 100 lb/in or maybe 140 lb/in rear springs. I think the 140s get you pretty close to the limit of adjustability of the Weltmeister 19mm front bar. The 100s would probably be a better match.

If you do want to go with a rear sway bar, drop the rear spring rates down by at least one "notch".

BTW, a front sway bar will help the inside front wheel to lift, not the inside rear. That's not a bad thing in and of itself, if the overall balance of the car works out OK.

Whoops! Going off of the assumption he had an SC front end (saw mention of it).

What? I don't have class today, I can leave my reading comprehension at work.
