Sounds like an oil galley plug. Where was it located on the engine?
I don't know if it's a common problem, but from my experience with the currrent car I have it's not good for that plug to come out.
Did it do any damage to the engine?

if you can push it back in....i'd get some carb cleaner on a rag, clean out the oil, and seal them together using red locktite and JB weld.

Yep sounds like a galley plug.

Must be tapped and plugged or it will just pop out again.

Lucky the engine lived.

chance of it popping back out or leaking.....I have a rebuilt 1.8 on my bench with 5K miles on it....pulled it due to leaking plugs that had just been epoxied in.....luckly I got a killer deal on the motor smile.gif .....hard to pass up for $250 ohmy.gif
