Here is a question for you guys with 911 fronts on your 14's.

Can any strut be used in the 911 strut housings? Or are you stuck with the type strut it came with?

For example...Can a Bilstein replacement strut be used where a Boge factory strut was? Is there a centering ring or adapter needed?

Thanks
Chris

Well, I don"t have 911 struts on my 914 but I have them on my 911 wink.gif.

I have always understood the "strut" to be the hollow outer part that has the steering arm on it and the "insert" to be the innards that provide the damping.

Bilstein makes inserts for their struts and Boges (and maybe Konis also) but they are different items.

Hope this helps.

Yep. Hard to answer this one. Use shocks and struts for reference.

911 Bilstein struts: you are stuck running Bilstein shocks
911 Koni's struts: you are stuck running Koni shocks
911 Boge struts: you can run any of the above plus Boge shocks

I have 911 struts on my 911 and my 914, and have other 911 struts

The Bilstien struts and Koni struts are sufficiently different that you cant interchange the inserts

Boge and Koni swap

Truechoice

can do some voodoo and get some very modern high performance inserts into the 911 strut
