doesnt run...the VW mechanic knows *NOTHING* about L-jet (even though he's dicked with it on buses, etc.) apparentally he thinks that the car runs just dandy without the AFM..... wacko.gif

this thing has been there for over six months.....time to rescue....

i dont actually know why i posted this.....

i hate to see that 914 sit there when I could buy it for free and drive away

start with the basic 3. spark, fuel and compresion. my 1.8 L-Jet ran (barely) with busted rings in 2 cylinders so skip compression . does it do anything? sputter? anyhting?

L-Jet is not that hard. If I cant figure it out, the 914club collective will. resistance is futile. tell us more.

I went over there to grab some junk parts....a 009(i completly forgot which number it was)dizzy and a coil...and saw the 914...

Me: What's up with the 914?
Steve: It's junk....
Me: ohmy.gif

Me: So whats wrong with it?
Steve: Teh injectors won't fire....
Me: okay, did you adjust the dwell gud nuf?(KY talk)..and is the fuel pump running?
Steve: dwell set..it's firing, but not squirting fuel...the pump doesnt work
Me: Hows teh AFM?
Steve: Doesn't matter, it can run without it....
Me: huh? no...the AFM is the main part of L-jet, its liek running the D-jet without a mps....no way no how. (at least teh "correct" way)
Steve: sure it can...i've done it many times in busses. This just won't work
Me: check the dual relay......

I left with my 009 and my coil......

the above was an actual conversation between me and the VW mechanic. From that day forward, I did my own work wink.gif

I think its a customer's car......

I'd be pissed if it were my car.....it does have chrome bumpers. its definately L-Jet though.

this guy is pretty good with VW's though...he's got a kickass 2.0L type4 beetle....but the R&P is bad or something and it wouldnt go well.....

Then ask how much for that worthless parts car..

Go back, buy the car..get your FI system off of it, and part out the rest...

I think I need to practice the vulturing technique.....

i cant buy the car...it just pissed me off that he wouldnt do anything with the car.

he has a D-jet tester up in the attic i think he'll part with though. i'll tell him its a parts tester and its worthless, since nobody uses D-jet anymore....

is that vulture enough?
