That is the word I just got from Larry Sharp (zone 7 rep and team crew member)
They finished 2nd last year.
I will fill in details as I get them.
The drivers are all GGR members and Time Trialers as well as PRC participants.
This is the longest endurance race in the U.S.
25 hours on the 3 mile track with lots of elevation changes.
They competed against many very well funded professional race teams.

They won with a street legal 1974 911 (carrera clone) An Auto Cross car.
3.6L conversion by Matt Lowrance or Sport Haus (Reno).

Pic to follow

Pic of car from last years race where they finished second overall.

Black body parts and wing were added just for the race.
Normally has a "duck tail and stock front valence"

Here's some pics from the broken axle pit stop.

When they first found the problem on the pit lane during a fuel stop.

The broken axle. No threads left. Nut and threads sheared off somewhere on track at speed ohmy.gif

Rich said he felt a "vibration". huh.gif

This crew got back on track after about 20 minutes of pit work. Pretty impressive.

How many laps did they get in? What was their fastest lap?

And does anybody know where to get full results???

a quick recap can be found here
http://www.caranddriver.com/article.asp?se...0&page_number=1

1995 miles in 25 hours. That is about 665 laps.

Drivers of the Lost n Spaced car: Masuo Robinson, Neil Jackson, Rich Walton and Peter Smith. Masuo, Neil and Rich are all GGR time trialers, Axers and NASA PRC racers.
I am not sure about Peter.
I have personally known and run against Masuo and Neil. In the same classes at various times.

Evidently, Brad's #93 had fatal trans lock up at about the 19th hour. Fastest car on the track at that time.

Lost n spaced finished 2 laps in front of the second place car.

Try that with a four banger. It wouldn't last to hour six.

Those guys are lucky they didn't lose a wheel bearing also.

I'll have to e-mail Rich and congradulate him....

I've logged about 150 miles in one day at Thunderhill in a Bp 914 and I was tired as heck...I could not imagine doing close to 500 miles as each of those drivers did and at those crazy hours (and I'm sure it was even colder this year than last year...burrrrrrr)

Sport Haus of Reno is owned and operated by acouple of great people, who also happen to own 914s. They have been very supportive of teeners. They have a very nice factory 6 sitting in the shop that they are planning to restore. Good to see their logo on the car.
