My 20 month old son loves my 914. He likes to sit
in it with daddy and we pretend we are driving.
I tried his car seat in it (I thinks its graco seat)
and it fits ok but I can not adjust the 914s seatbelt
tight enough to keep his seat from moving.

My 914 is a 1970 vintage. I have taken hm for a
ride around the block with his seat like that but
there is no way I will go on any main roads until
I can kep his seat from moving. I was thinking of
a foam cushion under his seat that would help lift
his seat up a bit plus it would sit better in the 914
seat and maybe I could stretch the seatbelt tight
enough to keep his seat from moving.

What child seat do you use for your kids???

hey man,

what about those metal clips that hold the seatbelt in place.

I don't know how to describe them, so here is a crappy drawing.
seanery
here it is
tryan
car dealers give those away. check wally mart.

pull the belt ALL the way out before you put on the t-clip. don't trust a 33 year old mechanism with your kids life.

I had the same problem, well sorta, with my MGA. That car had NO seat belts (1960). So I hooked a four point roll harness and used the detachable over the shoulder part as the tether hook. Check to see if your seat has this I think they all do now. This way I could snug the seat down as well as tight to the seat back, it wouldn't move at all. Plus now that he is four he can ride in his booster seat with the four point on regular. He and I love to go riding all the time and he can't wait until we get the 914 on the road. Gota start 'em young boldblue.gif

Get that clip ASAP!

I think we had a cosco seat. In the 914, the kids were able to sit high enough to see out the side window -- they loved it. Gotta watch 'em though: for some reason, they like to toss the tippy cup out the window... but that's another story wink.gif

string on the cup man.

my youngest houdini , now 10, could extract himself from any car seat. he once escaped from the hellion chair at the dentists office. we paid 3 large to have him put to sleep to get his teeth cleaned and a cavity filled. the joys of parenthood.

tryan,

Glad I am not the only parent that has to pay to have his kid put to sleep to have his teeth worked on. At least mine is only going to cost 1200.

If you have a '70, and it still has the non-retractables, or a newer
safer model (bugcity.com has beetle non-retract for 32.99), you
are in the same boat as me. Even before my kid was old enough
for just the booster option, the Graco Alpha Omega seat worked
well on the flat early-type seat. Now using it just as booster
seat, works well, you can tighten up the bug belts on both ends
and stays tight and in the right place.

Thanks for the info. I picked up one of those clips
today at the Ford dealer (need parts for the 96 F150,
don't ask sad.gif ) it works great clap56.gif Took Nathan
for a 30 min ride, my wife is just sick, another 914
lover boldblue.gif

We had to show him the car in the garage tonight.
He would not go to bed until he said nite nite to
"daddy's car". I think we are in trouble wink.gif
