i have noticed bearings on alot of different european motors have FAG marked on the edge.
is that the name of a company or maybe a standards marking like ISO, etc?
some real info would be great, keep the queer jokes to a minimum so this thread does not get pulled

FAG Bearings is in Joplin MO. I just about ran off the road when I passed it one day, HUGE sign on the front of the building "FAG", I thought it must be a national headquarters or something...

Porsche uses bearings from FAG, SKF, Glyco, and KS. Possibly others (like NSK) for A/C clutches and things like that. IME, and there's more than 40 years of it, they're interchangeable and the quality's always there. FAG is headquartered in Germany, SKF in Sweden. The Cap'n

I got a set of SKF that were made in POS.
Unfortunately, you can't tell they are bad till you torque down the big nut......then there was side play in one.....assholes.

Doods:
I got off the turnip truck....but not the last one.
After the big nut was torqued to 250lbs, there was .02 or so side play in the bearing....in other words, you could move the hub in & out about .02. Iz'at exact enuff? The other side was fine.

I installed a set of SKF rear wheel bearings a few weeks ago, everything went great. I was very careful to install them correctly.

Friedrich Fischer invented the bearing grinding machine in Germany in 1883 and
the ball bearing industry started. Fag is still carrying his name. It means Fischer
AG, actien gesellschaft, which translates into stock company. Dimitri
