It's a fairly inexpensive way to build a stroker.

How come more people don't do this? I've heard about this kind of stuff a few times but have never met someone actually doing it.

I have a spare 1.7 in my gararge. How cheap could I build a 150hp stroker?

Please hurry up and finish this project before this becomes a pay site.

One word on the rabbit rod combo.

Many have tried and died, nothing new.
Gene Berg did a rabbit rod Type1 back in the late 70's and quit because of failures. This is on a physically shorter crank and he did nothing half-assed. It just too small of a journal for a crank with 2 rod journals between mains. Chevy's can get away with it because they run 2 rods on the same journal so the mains are close together.

The "Chevy" (Buick) 2" journal is about the smallest I'd run personally.

Yes and they also have 5 main bearings not 3, not counting the small pulley bearing. apples to oranges

Do you really think VW made forged cranks out of the goodness of their heart? They did it because it was the only way to make a crank strong enough. The crank is the most expensive "single" part on the car.

Hey I wish Richard the best of luck, what he is trying is cool, but longevity (flex) will be the issue.
