The Firebird ECU does all the fancy modern AC stuff...

1. Keeps track of AC pressure and cycles compressor.

2. Prevents AC compressor activation if no freon is in the system.

3. Turns the condenser fan on and off.

4. Turns off AC compressor at WOT.

5. Prevents evaporator freeze-up.

Is there an off the shelf control unit that does all this stuff, or should I do the extra work to retain this functionality in the Firebird ECU? I'm mostly concerned with 1, 2 and 5.

The parts I don't have but may need in order for the ECU to control the AC properly is the evaporator temperature probe and the expansion valve. (They were waaay too difficult to extract from the Firebird) I figure the big downside to using the ECU is locating those parts, and troubleshooting.
