What is this part on left side engine shelf, and does it need to be there for the six?

You must be talking about the mount for the aux fan for the heat. Don't need it on a six that I know of. Maybe someone with a six with heat will comment.

that is for your heater blower motor....do you want heat?

The '6s don't have that part. In fact, it might really get in the way of the big
oil filter which will be sticking out near there if you convert.
