I could cruise all day at 70 - 80 in my 2.0 until something besides the motor broke.

Stock rolling diameter tires (25.4")....3200-3400 RPM....80-90 MPH....it hums there (don't get any ideas Aaron).

Mine is a 2.0 with weber 40s and a mild cam...it really doesn't like to be below 3000rpm but it can do it. It's happiest at ~75mph in 5th.

You are likely to burn a motor up under 2500 than you are at 4500. Lugging is head death.
There is a sweet spot, in fifth, @ around 37-3800, stock, where the engine is belting out horses, and perfectly happy to do so until you run out of gas, or road.

I am with slits, 80-90 indicated with 1.7 and do 40 mile round trips each day (daily driver).

my '73 with opened up exhaust and, cheap CAI, and the 1.7 will sit at 85 at 3900, and be happy. Never given me a problem.

When cruising on the highway I keep it at about 3400-4000 rpms.
Most of the time when driving on the street I'm bouncing between 3800 and 5000 rpms. That's what the lower gears are made for

3400 RPM for me equals 80 MPH thats where it seems happiest. 195/60-15 rear tires. ZD 5th gear

With my 205/50 tires, I'm at about 3K for 60 mph, which is OK i think for low-load highay cruising. On the I-state, 70 is right where the power comes in, so buzzing along at 75 is easy, and I can run up to 90 or faster really quickly. In fact, i've wondered what the top end is. I believe it would be RPM limited. Maybe 115 or 118?
