All these painting threads lately has got me motivated. I took the body pieces outside and shot the side and the front hood this afternoon. I had a few spray gun problems (I think it's time for a new one).

About the time you THINK you're done and it's ready to shoot, take it out into the bright sun and look close. You'll see things you never saw before. I used a high solids filler/primer but I still got pin holes in the fiberglass to fill. And a few cracks to rout out and fill.

nutter...

I used a light coat on the hood as I hadn't done a lot of work to it.

This needs some more work but I shot it anyway...

I'm going to keep the German flag (top black, red middle, yellow bottom) scheme going. The rear trunk will be black with the sail panels ans targa bar when it done.

But I thinking on maybe running a wide yellow stripe that ends in a big arrow on the front hood. Kinda like the 908-3's had. But it would be on the right side of the car. See like this..

Maybe the stripe won't be a stright line but will have some curves in it like a ax course? confused24.gif

Good to see you posting. And making progress.

I only had one problem with my project. Fiberglass.

It's tricky wacko.gif

Are you using a "high build" type primer?

I think we'll have to use an epoxy sealer/primer on my ducktail spoiler.

Talking about heavy paint, that boat hull paint with barnicle block has copper in it and weighs about 10#s per quart ohmy.gif

Don't use that lol2.gif

I am but it still didn't fill all the pin holes in my f-glass work.

And YES F-glass can be a pain to work with, a lot of little things to be careful of.... wacko.gif

Are you going to run anything on top of the rollcage between the sail panels?

Yea, I've made a f-glass piece to go across for the targa bar.

I'm not done with it yet.

Coming back to go to the PCA Club race at Sebring?

I wish I was going to the 48 Hours but I am slammed with work. I am going to the 12 Hours.
I'm sure I'll see you there.
