You need to get some nice lite guage aluminum from OSH and cut it to size of the radio opening, use double sided foam tape to secure like the dash face.
This is what I am doing tomorrow after I remove the CD player and other sound stuff.
That also makes a great place to mount a "Hot lap timer"
My hot lap timer mounts to the area where the ash tray resides.

I need a timer.
