I took my car to carb Connections yesterday in Totem Lake to have a dyno tune, I suspected my Webers were rich just like me after the tax check, anyway the thing is tuned great and no jetting needed however the scope does not lie and my Crane PS60 coil which goes with my Crane XR700 ingnition is only putting out 18,000 volts.
He suspects that is why my car is not running so crisply and I smell alot of unburned fuel. I ordered a new coil and hopefully it's here by Saturday. We did a compression check and all cylinders were 130 + which is good. mueba.gif

At least its only the coil..... wink.gif

what was the cost of the carb tuning session?
Neal
$95.00 for the Dyno
$75.00 for 1 hour
$50 for a/f meter ? (don't know what the f*?") that is
$239.36
now lets explore what I did wrong
1.Thinking there was no additional charge for the dyno the shop charge is $75 per hour
2.Thinking I needed the dyno , in fariness it did show the mixture under load was spot on.
3.Actually helping the guy (I am an outgoing guy) and diagnosing the weak spark for which he said "good call".
things done.
dyno
compression check
carb sync (I think thats the A/F charge) but why is it not part of the hour ?
scope diagnosis which showed the weak spark.
Things learned
Carb Connection is a cool place with techs that love all kinds of cars
they had a BMW Z3 M series that was up on a rack with engine out and a euro spec engine on the floor ready to be installed, John the guy who worked on my car said he had just finished putting cams in the engine.
They also had a 440 Cuda (MINT !) and a Pantera (New Red paint) with a totaly built 351 Ford Windsor engine.
I got to work with John and help with the Dyno which was cool, all and all I would recommend the process.

It's the Air/Fuel Meter, it's what actualy shows the mixture you are running at.

Yeah, they are a "cool place" soo cool that they lost Blair's 1st Gen Mazda RX7 Turbo car while they were working on it. Pushed it outside in the unlocked parking area and "someone" took it. Blair only had about 10k in parts on the car/motor.

Just a mild beef with them.

What coil voltage is required?

What happened in the end, did they reimburse him or did the they try to dick him ?, that would be germain as to how cool they are. I know they had me sign this big aggreement if they blew up my motor I was cool with that.
Neal
ChrisReale
Hell no they didn't re-imburse him.

Oh, then they suck. I would imagine that a lawsuit is in order. Hmm...I see heavy damages in the future...
Neal
How did they avoid being at fault, if the car is in their care then it should be up to them to store it safely.
Is there so fine print about overnight stays ?
Neal

The way I understand it, Blair had to sign this paper that was to hold them harmless for damages for the ie: stereo and such things. That is how it was explained to Blair. The insurance co said it was a blanket waiving of damages rights and they are not liable... So now we need to come up with $5k for a lawyer to fight and collect.
Do not sign anything if you go there! Do not leave your car overnight! We still think it was a inside job in that someone told someone that the car was sitting outside. The pushed it onto a towdolly to steal it.

BULLSHIT! They ARE liable!
