Are spacers needed to fit these 15x7" wheels on a stock fendered car. My 16x6 Fuchs don't have much clearance between the trailing arm. No I don't have a set of 911R wheels, just thinking.
Andyrew
Which wheels? Which offset?

15x7 is generally a no... dont need spacers.
brant
The general consensus is that 15inch 7's won't fit on a stock fender... (spacer or no spacer)

a couple people are magic and report that they have seen it or done it...

but 99% of the time the 7 won't fit without a fender flair

the exception is the 911R wheel at 1K/each. Those have a different offset and should work.

the wheels on the green car are *not* 7" ...

so, what the heck are you talking about?

PS: i know the description gustl posted says 7", but look at them, that does not look like a 7" wheel to me ...

okay, let's "pretend" they are the 15x7 R rims smile.gif

with a 49mm offset, you'd want to run a spacer of at least 6mm to a max of 12mm for stock fenders....

i run fuchs 15x7's on a stock steel body no problem.

think you have to run a low tire like 205/50/15
Aaron Cox
agree.gif with synth

7"s fit fine up front.. no problems at all...

7's with a 205/50 might take a rolled lip or a subtle flare... OR lots of neg camber......

Porsche Rescue
7x15 or 7x16 with 23mm offset will fit with a 205 tire but you will at least have to roll the lip on the rear. With 195 you might get lucky.
Bleyseng
I had to roll the shit outta to fit my 15x7 Cookies (yup 23mm offset) running 205x50x15 so I don't know how thats a easy fit. Front and rear and the paint is still effed up... dry.gif

David,

I wasn't trying to insult you.
your obviously one of the lucky ones.

I know on both of my cars
plus on 10 more guys with track cars that I've talked to.
can not fit a 7inch wheel.

but your the lucky 1% guy! good for you!

my fenders took a TON of work and a new paint job:

wow brant, with that much flare you should be bale to fit 8's...

That was my intent.
one of my race groups will only allow 7's..

the other will allow 8's, but I just don't want to buy new tires yet.

Here is a picture with 225's on 7's and a tape measure:

But then I have to buy another 10x longer studs.
and worse yet, I have to replace 2x wheel bearings to install the studs.

In the end it will cost me probably 200+ bucks to do that... not to mention the time and labour to pull/replace the bearings.. And the new corner balance and alignment that come from that

I've been considering it...

(don't forget the extra weight of the spacers and studs)

I saw 911R 15x7 fuchs on a totally stock bodies 914 in Florida at a car show last year. I know the car was stock bodied (atleast the owner said it had no streching of fenders and it looked unmodded to me). cool.gif

but its cheaper to repaint the car than to buy a set of those 911R wheels these days.

i think you replace studs on the hub (without pulling it off the car...

pull your wheel, then pull the brake dust shield...

you have a clear shot. some creative work with a c clamp maybe?

brant
my memory for the last week sucks..
lets ask Eric (the 5 bolt king!)

I thought you had to pull the hub from the bearing to get access to the back of the studs...

I really think this is right, but maybe Eric will weigh in on this one

nope ...
i put in my 100mm studs without taking the hub off ...

gotta rotate the hub as only one hole clears the trailing arm.

I have 15x7 cookies on my car with Kuhmo Ecsta 712 (icon8.gif - slippy tires) 205x15x50s on them. I had to do a bunch of fender rolling to get those under the backside of the car.

Big thanks to SynthesisDV for selling me the wheels tho smilie_pokal.gif

ahah! i knew it....

what did you use to press em in?
SirAndy

no press ... biggrin.gif

slide in until splines line up, slide piece of pipe over the stud, then a big washer, then thread on a old open lug nut.

it'll pull the stud right into place!

i used a little bit of lock-tight (sp?) on the splines, just to be sure ...

This is my 914 with 7x15 911 R Fuchs and 205/50/15 tires. Stock body. No fender rolling. No spacer in front, but about 1/2 inch spacers in rear.

where does one even find 911R wheels? ive seen a set locally.... but i mean, how many 911R's were there?????

hijacked.gif
campbellcj
I've seen 911R wheels pop up from time to time on Pelican and Rennlist classifieds. They cost as much as some reasonably nice 914's...

I went the rolling and pulling route on my rear fenders and can fit 15x7's or 16x7's with 205 Hoosiers (wide). If I ever repaint the car I'll probably do the 'slicing' trick to get enough room to squeeze 225's. Most of the VARA cars are set up this way - 225/50 Kumhos on 15x7 Fuchs with a stock-appearing body.

I was thinking about some custom wheels (probably some steel ones.) I'm just looking for the correct offset.

There were only 21 911R cars made. However, I think I remember the batch of wheels being
about 200 sets.

my brother 15x7s on his car with 205s on it ...it required a bit of fender rolling , but they fit ok and rub slightly very ocasionally....

Very nice! I wish I could find a set that I could afford.
