Fiddling around in the engine (stock 1.7) the other night, I came across two wires that were:

1) green w/ black stripe
2) green w/ red stripe

They came out of the harness in the engine thats just to the right of the air filter and below the distributor (looking down at the engine).

I looked at some wiring diagrams and it seems like they might be for the liscense plate lights or something to that effect?

Anyone have an idea? sorry I dont have pics right now, but I can get some tonight if need be.

green/red is oil pressure wire

green/black..... can't see the wiring diagram well enough... will try again later, but they surely are not license plate lights, not around the engine...

Green-Red is the oil pressure idiot light wire *goes from the sender just below the Dizzy.

I think Green-Black is for the oil temp sender (taco-plate on the bottom of the engine)

Your car may not have come with an oil-temp gauge and that's a dummy. Or it did.

Yes, green/black is oil temp sender. The wire is there in the harness even if you don't have the gauge.
