The team just emailed me and let me know that they have to start in 3rd gear due to sooooo much torque!

HAHA that is soo cool we have a porche like that at CalState LA school with our Team Supermileage. I am in the current supermileage team . It is driven by a electric motor has about 400-500 lbs of torque, we have to drive that thing in 3rd gear 1 gear is just peels off and 2nd gear u gotta be pretty good with shifting. It is powered by the zilla eletric motor, has like 12 yellow top optima batteries it is sponsored by them also.!! We charge it for free using our solar panel on the roof of our Lab. Anyways ur car is looking good !!!!!
Here is the Website with the Info/picture/specs of the car:

I bet it still leaks oil from somewhere . . .

Cool, but not too fast. 1/8 mile in 10.4sec @ 62mph.

That's about the same as a stock 914 2.0 (mabye even a little slower)

Otmar said his electric conversion did 1/4 mile in 13.810sec @ 98.38 mph.

Whatever happened to Otmar? confused24.gif

Otmar makes the Zilla controller those guys use. I'd heard he was doing 11s these days, but not directly from him. 13s sound more reasonable.

I think Otmar is just busy. Lots of interest in his toys these days. He kept hinting he was doing work for one or two of the serious electric car companies trying to get production cars ready for sale.

I was emailing Otmar late last year because I bought my 914 for an electric conversion ohmy.gif That project will no doubt materialize in the future, but right now I don't have an extra $6K and am having lots of fun fixing up stuff other than the engine and feel good about getting 30 mpg from my 1.7.

He was in the process of moving to Oregon and getting a new house, shop, biz going up there. Proabaly still settling and hopfully back in action soon. 100% electric cars have huge potential for daily use and can be very quick, quiet, and clean - hopefully some of the Zilla components will go AC and drop in price.

Otmars 914 is wickedly quick (when it's not spinning the tires)...900+ ftlbs of torque....of all the 914s I have been in, his ranks right up with the most fun ride...

There is a Caltech Alum in La Canada, CA doing an electric 914 conversion. I owe him a visit and an email... Nice guy. I'll check in on him and see how he's doing.
