Check out the pics of my new interior? Finally got most of it done and my new gauges are all working along with my interior lighting. Had to hide the still exposed wiring for the pics. What do you guys think of the wood dash? Really wanted carbon fiber but this was a much cheaper alternative. More of a cruiser than a race car - for the time being. Now the drive train needs some work, but so far so good!

mine has wood dash too...but it looks like hell

Thanks guys! I used some exotic veneer I purchased on-line and made it myself. It came out pretty good but I know where all the flaws are. Only one of the toggle switches are functional and control the interior courtesy lights under the dash (you can see the passengers side one in the photos). the other are for future needs. The console has the gas gauge and a voltmeter. I put a 911 oil temp and pressure gauge into the dash - I really like this set-up.

Note the extra heel pad I put in! I have less than 500 miles and the heel part by the accelerator is almost worn through? Disappointing.

I used the metal I removed from the dash as the template. The metal that is held on by two-sided tape that is under the stock vinyl. Tried to use the removed vinyl buy it was not stiff enough.

I'll see what othe pics I have?

Yeah, I'm likin it. The wood fits in nicely with the '70s look of the original interior. So what was the thickness of the panels ? Working with veneers takes some skill and some special tools, but its easy to find 1/4" cherry plywood that finishes up real nice, and I think woodworker's stores carry other hardwood-veneer plywoods also. In a few years, I might get around to working on my interior; I'll definitely keep this option in mind !

Oh yeah I have been thinking too. I am ready to go; just need to figure the dimensions-template would make it easy.
I had an 70's oak plywood on there that cracked-ruined my plates crow-barring the thing off.

There is beautiful exotic wood on eekbay. Just look up exotic lumber. Got my jigsaw ready. Just need that shape!

My 70 has the wood dash face also. I assume a PO did it I like the look. Also Dino wood steering wheel.

Look's really nice. BTW where did you get the vinyl for the door panels and seats? I'm looking to redo my interior and would like to keep it tan.

It was a PIA and took me a couple tries. It is very thin and is not the easist stuff to work with. That is why you need some kind of pattern or subsrate.

itsa914 - yours is the inspiration for my wood dash. Like to wood steering wheel and matching wood shifter would be cool.

Solex - I actually used the original black ones and painted them. Used that vinyl paint. Looks great now, but time will tell how it wears. Guy told me as long as it is not in a high wear area (i.e. seat) it should be OK?

Now if I can just get it running as good as the interior looks??

Cool I was thinking about a wood shift knob also. Look in our own resource section for a knob
