I was wondering that too, then I noticed they're only on the back so maybe it's to let people get a better view of the rear?

So what's the answer? Why the cradles under the rear tires? |
Probably because it's all one needs to look underneath since noone can cross the bariers and walk around the cars. It would also give a better view of the front of the cars since one has to view from a distance. If this dosen't work for ya then perhaps the floor is poored in a slope and it would make the cars seem like they are pointing upwards. Then they could have placed the cars front to the audience and the rears would have been nonvisible. These are just possible explinations but I truely believe that the have some wierd shmit in their drinking water.

What time this year is the 914 International in Essen? Hell, any 914 meeting in Europe will do. I just got over to Germany and am still waiting for the 914. I can't wait to get it out on the road here.
It may be an INT but has a 5L air cooled power plant and tractor Fusch rims. It takes corners like a 914 with a share cropped appeal.

It almost reminds me of a Pooper, but the front end looks too pinched. With all those other cars having the proper Porsche DNA, I would be surprised that a "mongrel" would be allowed in the "inner circle"

Its in Barcelona this year. May 20th and 21st.
I'm driving down from Amsterdam in a 914/6 via western France to meet up with some other cars. Then back afterwards via central/eastern France.

So exactly what is it that we are looking at? A museum, an annual event? Where is there more info? If it's an event it could be a reason to make my next trip to Europe at the same time of year.

I haven't got a pic of the original 2.5L Climax engined Monaco around any where. Yours in the pics have been hacked by us Americans for SCCA pro, USRRC & CAN-AM.....tho the first one is pretty close shape wise. I think that is what we called the King Cobra......mit Ford power.
I saw em' run....tho it was a long time ago and my memory is foggy....along with the Climax engine Lotus 19 back in the early 60s at Kent......when drivers were fat & tires were skinny.

Wolfgang,
Is that Armin's GT replica? He did one or two of the Monte cars for customers I think?
I don't remember them ever putting Porsche power in a Cooper...it is great looking.
I know someone put a Porsche powerplant into a Devin as well.

Peter,
I don't know yet if Armin built this clone ... but it was my first thought, too
I will find out and let you know - it might take a little time
I just know that Armin doesn't own the car
914.1.43.0139 was destroyed by the factory in 1972
914.1.43.0140 was converted to the famous ONS Firetruck - unfortunately I don't know where the car currently is - I heared a rumor that the current owner tends to restore it to the original '71 Monte Carlo specification ...
914.1.43.0141 was restored by Armin (and his team):

How about an answer, or did I miss it?
