This is the round part that is bolted on the spindle behind the rotor. It's like a brake dust shield. The Haynes book makes it look like the lip of the cover plate is facing out, but the rotor doesn't clear... does this face in?

the radiused outer edge goes towards the center line of the car rob. if it's on backwards, you can't get the hub/rotor to install correctly.

Thanks... I needed that. It didn't seem to make sense putting the Haynes manual picture and the real part together...... we thought perhaps the parts got bent during powdercoating.

you know for sure when you think you have the rotor on and you can't get the caliper to go on because the rotor is about 1/2" too far outboard.
