I probably should have waited till beer buzz goes away to post this.
Ok I was looking at my pityful teener like I had just gotten to her too late.
Then my other project screamed out to me.(all this screaming is why you shouldn't drink and tweek on projects) beer3.gif beer3.gif beer3.gif

There Iam better now.....Back to the topic can a tailshifter be turned into a rear drive taildragger. If it can I want to stuff it in a street dune buggie. screwy.gif

Yes.. I did the exact opposite. You need some parts from a 911 transaxle.

Or you can send me the tranny and pay for parts. I will convert it for you.

I have the conversion pieces in a box in my garage.

The question becomes....WHY??? just get a 911 tranny. It is already done.
Mr.C
Go to GermanLook.com and look up the trans section. Guys mix and match 914 trannies to tail dragger configuration all the time.

the germanlook website is part of why I wanted to do it, gut not for my Superbeetle. more for the "manx" clone sitting in the back of the garage.

I would rather convert than buy a 911 because I have the 914 tranny sitting here already. It is also a tail shifter which I have come to learn may notbe the easiest thing to sell and finance the 911 tranny purchase.

There's a couple 911/01 trannies in the Classifieds right now (wink, wink). 1 rebuilt and the other comes along for free...
pokey1168
Ok , Eric, I give I didn't find them. I may not be looking in the right classified area or not using the right search phrase.

how far is it from Pampa to Fort Worth?

If you bring it to me, I will convert it for the cost of the gasket kit, and I keep the leftovers from your tranny. I need a good tailcover. I have one with a broken ear.

I am about 6 1/2 hours north of you. If you know where Amarillo is. (in the panhandle) I am east northeast of Ama. about 60 miles.
