Yeah, I saw this car on ebay a while back also...probably a lower price because black is not the original color (was red).

hah, true, did not see there is no reserve. looks like they could have screwed themselves if it sells for very little.

You need to ask to bid...

Looks like the guy is in Phoenix.

I'm bidding!!!
HEEHEeeh, naaa, I just spent too much money getting an engine and having it put in, if this was around last week I'd jump on it -for the 6cyl alone.
I predict a bidding war near the end of the auction.

By the way, I will keep you guys posted. I asked a few questions regarding the engine ALONE. I will put what I hear up on the board.
NOTE: if I do not post anything (HAHahaha, HHEheheHAHAHAAAA
) its because I heard GOOD news from the guy and dont want to compete with deeper pockets for the engine.

and why do you want a stock 2.0 6 cylinder engine so bad?? that is not where the worth is in this car.

If somone is looking for a cheap 914/6 project closer to home (Portland, OR, USA) see the thread Jim's914/6 which I just bumped.

Considering I'm pushing around a 1.7L 4 cylinder -why not?
Its a good place to start, right?
I'll have 3 engines, some metal to experiment with, take apart, learn, break, build, learn.
If its running, its potentially a better engine -power wise- then the engine I have.
right???
Where is the 'worth' in the rusted out carriage? Grant it, there are many other things about the car that would be 'worth it' for a good deal (and its only in Phoenix by the way), but I'm really fixated on engine mechanics right now.

you realize it is not cheap to put a 6 motor in a 4 car, right? why spend a few grand setting your car up to accept a 6 and then drop a motor in it with so little HP?
wonder if anyone has ever done a 6 conversion and put a stock 2.0 in it??

Good point.
Thats why this is the board, and all other places pretend.
I can only learn, and this board allows a person to Learn and Live, instead of the usual order of living and learning -that can result in scary ugly problems.
Though I did ask, when looking for an engine, what would have to be 'done' to my car if I were to purchase a 6 cylinder engine and the impression I was given was 'not much'.
I take it the 6 wont be a 'snap in' deal. Cool, I'll read and read-on. Got to learn, I'm behind.

yes you will need conversion parts that aren't too cheap ($1k for oil tank and lines alone). no way to just bolt a 6 up and go. you'll also need a $500 motor mount that needs to be welded in. there are other little extras too, like accelerator linkage mods, etc.
that being said, the worth of a 914-6 is in the "rare" chassis, can bolt up any six to 3.2 liters relatively easily, already 5 lug, etc.

and POOF, like that, its GONE.
Just a quick note. After reading the posts, I took a look at the ad, smelled something wrong, emailed EBAY support this morning and the auction vanished.

I need to get what I paid, $6750. That is what I paid, not counting travel expenses to go get it. I won't be able to take any pics for a few days.
