Any ideas for lightweight interior door panels for street/track car?

carbon fiber sheet.

see synthesisDV's car.

We used old aluminum printing plates cut to fit. They are just pop-riveted to the inside of the doors. They are slightly heavier than aluminum foil (but not much) and were free.

Of course they dont scream BLING like CF would and they didn't lighten our wallet like CF would.

I think they are lighter than CF would be.

Dale,

Nice dash!
Awesome job!

Grant,
does this mean your going to put it on scales soon and weigh it?

(sick of me asking yet?)

I agree with the aluminum sheeting Idea.
we used paper thin aluminum.
we used a brake to bend ours over the previous window channel also.
aluminum rivets of course and the door strap is tied to the handle and lock mechanism so that pulling it actually releases the latch.

lock tumblers are gutted of course and a few non showing holes were drilled into the inner back of the door handle for weight..

speaking of weight biggrin.gif

Send me some scales and I'd be happy to weigh the car. I'm thinking the car is around 2000 lbs in its current street trim state with roll cage.

I used black ABS, aluminum angle stock, and aluminum trim screws. Very light and cheap.

No glass, regulators or locks, but I haven't (yet) gutted the door frames completely as I may someday want to put the glass back.
