Ok,
It squeaks when being depressed.
Here is what we have done.

Removed greased and re-installed clutch cable, no frays, no damage.
Inspected clutch tube welds, all fine.

Removed pedal cluster, removed plastic bushings, and installed brass ones...all except the little tiny one...I missed that...

When I took apart the cluster, I noticed that the spring (the big one around the big tube) this spring had worn its fingerprint into the bottom of the tube...

I sanded that area down.
Re-assembly was with alot of lithium grease...everywhere.

So, it was quiet for a few days...now its back...
Squeaks when pressed.

HELP!!! I may go nuts..thank god its not my car...its the kids car..
I drive it to make sure its ok...so having the tunes up really loud defeats the purpose of the drive...

Mine squeaks too, but the RS is so loud, I only notice when it's not running.

until now, I thought that squeak was just a signal that something else was on the virge of breaking....

but i'm glad its not fatal.

I got the exact same problem (with the finger print as you described it).

Basically I am hitting that spring with some spray lube when ever the squeak comes back (find some with a long spray straw thingy - and you can do it with out even pulling the carpet up).

I am glad you started this thread as I have considered replacing the spring next time I have the pedal cluster apart. But would like to hear from others.

I dug this thread up with the search function rolleyes.gif

My clutch pedal just started squeaking a few day ago. It is very annoying. The whole cluster was rebuilt by bdstone a few months back. After reading this thread i am assuming its a common problem, and it is not a sign of instant death??? confused24.gif

does anyone eles lube the clutch often??

The track car has a squeaky clutch actuation. The cause of that one is the pivot wheel at the trans.

Sound transmits through the cable well.

I have not been able to eliminate my squeak, but have isolated it.

If some smart person was to put a bearing in the middle of the clutch cable wheel at the trans, it would help a bunch.

.....could be that 1?

Rich, try spraying with penetrating oil, and make sure its not the pedal board the clutch lever is squeeking on. good luck

You can do it in car, Jim. Put a healthy drop in the valleys of the spring, step on pedal, repeat as necessary. DuPont Teflon Multi Use dry wax spray might be even better. It's great on garage and sliding door tracks!
