Hi,

I am replacing by front rotors and bought a set of new bearings. The auto shop near my house quoted $50/rotor to put the bearing in. Yikes!

This seems a tad high or am I not giving the shop credit. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Do it yourself. It is not hard, use a brass drift or a socket the size of the race and hammer them in just make sure you do it evenly.

If you have a bench grinder you take a little off your old bearing so that you can use it as a guide to tap in your new one.

50 is too high to press in new. dont you have a pep boys or equivalent in you area? should be 1/2 that.

Pressing new front bearings can be easily done at home. Here's a link to a good how-to article for changing bearings.

You can go to Pepboy's and get the tool they sell I think it's $39 or do as I did and go to Lowes and get water pipe and a cap the size you need. If it's too big use your grinder to resize. It works. smash.gif
