I've been following the broken mount bar and forgot that when we put the six in my race car we added a safety steel cable lanyard at the front for the engine and also at the rear for the tranny in case the mounts fail. The shop has had several transmission mount failures on racing 914s and does this to prevent things like the 911 in the picture.

The pict is on page 3 of Trekkor's PMS bar mount failure post. Black Forest had a 914/6 conversion from the mid west that had the engine put in stressed and the sheet metal mounts ripped out of the trunk in turn 2 at Willow Springs and messed up the tranny when it bounced along on the ground.
