Well, After 28 years....

I'm coming to California to pick up my "new" car (yes, it's a 914)! I'll be
arriving Friday night, 5 May. Saturday I plan to drive it locally and head
down to Orange County to test it out. Anybody want to meet up?

Second, I am planning to drive the car home to the Texas coast, 1600
miles! driving.gif I had planned to take I-10 most of the way. I'll be leaving
Sunday the 7th if all goes well. I'm looking for support along the way if I
break anything. I have no need to be home at any particular time if anyone
can offer better routing, more support, get together, anything.

Thanks,

Jeff

Good luck!

I did a trip from NorCal to New Jersey a few months ago.
Try and post from truck stops along the was so people can track your progress.
I posted my cell number and recieved calls along the way.
It made the time pass and I got to talk to lots of cool 914 people.

Just change the oil and adjust those valves.

Have fun beer.gif

Where are you picking up the car?

If you're coming down I-5 I can handle the Kern county leg if you need help.

Sorry if I missed it, but where are you picking up the car?

I'm picking the car up in Tujunga, but going to be driving down to Orange
County, so that may be a better starting point. No definite location there yet,
it's the only place I have ever visited in the LA area!

I'm open to suggestions as to routing...

Cool, you're already starting out in the L.A. are so getting to OC is easy.

Yer south of me so I doubt there's much I can help with....

Have fun!!! driving.gif

Cool, I've driven that car. It runs really strong and it just got a valve adjustment and oil change. Thats a long drive, I've done it a few times too. You may want to pick up a Compufire ingnition and replace the points, or carry spare set of point, a cap and rotor. and bring a few basic tools.

Too bad your not coming this weekend, you could meet most of the SC contingent at the swap. Well, Have Fun...

Ship some tools out there to someone. I used 2 flat rate USPS boxes at $7.50 each when I went out to get my car. I did a valve adjustment, installed an ignition switch and a couple of little detail items before I left California. Trojanman and I drove all the way to Denver (southern route) and never used a single one of tools while on the road.

Good luck and have a blast!
