I was prepping my engine lid parts for assembly over the weekend and discovered some differences between the early and late engine lids. These differences have created a bit of a problem. I have been planning to install a 73 - 76 style rain tray on my car. But i discovered that I had the painter paint an engine lid from a 72. I now know the differences in how the rain trays attach to the early engine lids compared to the late engine lids headbang.gif

The late style attaches with 6 bolts. The early style attaches with 2 bolts, 2 tabs that pass through the tray and 3 tabs that are riveted onto the rain tray and attached to the lid using 3 of the 'slide on the post" fasteners that also hold the engine lid grill in place.

Has anyone installed the late rain tray on an early engine lid and how did you do it?

Anyone have an early drain tray in very good condition for sale?
