so i went to my favorite parts place during my lunchbreak and one of the 914s had a box with some replacement stuff from the PO.
got a set of brand new brass rollers for the rear trunk, some hard to come by rubber seals, and the gauge pictured below.
first, i didn't notice, but then i thought, that's odd, i don't remember mine having a temp gauge in there ...
part#: 914 641 101 30
is this a original /6 gauge?

You sure about the '73 only?
My '75 2.0 had one sans the silver center and the red in the temp gauge was smaller.
Still a good find...

just confirmed that it is *not* a 914/6 gauge ...
914-6 would be 914 641 101 20
PET says:
914 641 101 30 = 914-4, 2.0L
"Instrument Cluster for Cars without Center Console"
no specific year mentioned ...

Not to be a SMART ASS, but this is also an early 74 guage, not sure of the VIN cut off, but is from 74 car's 0001-4500 area I believe...a ball park number. Mine is 5640, and is not a silver button car. Tobra's 74 has this type, not sure of his VIN, but I know early 74 cars have silver button guages...I think Bowlsby also has an early 74 with silver button gauges...

some more useless trivia, but in addition to the absence of the silver "dot", the red temp area is smaller in the 74- non-dot gauge. in the pix of the gauge with the numerical temp scale, this is a gauge probably modified by companies like north hollywood speedo or palo alto although this can be done by any individual. the 911 numbers would be "vertical" as the 911 temp gauge is arranged in a vertical line on one of the gauges to the left of the speedo.

Interesting. My guess would be that your car came with the center console, but it was removed by someone over the years.
US 73 2.0 should have come standard with the center console. Which is consistent with your non-temp gauge.
