I was removing sound proofing from the rusty floor of my car and I found these. There are two on each side of the car just in front of the cross brace. Any idea what it is? It reminds me or the little posts you find on modern cars that keep your floor mats in place.

to hold down the carpet. the carpet has two holes that fit schnugg around those ...

I was going to say the key to hell but I see you probably are already in.

I just didn't know cars at this age had these. Not that it is a ground breaking invention or anything, I just have never had an old car with them.

I think it might actually be the key to hell and it has rusted to pieces
