I put a 1.7 muffler on my 2.0 motor will i loose power and tend to run hot?
Brad Roberts
Unless you do some serious cutting and grinding.. you wont be installing a 1.7 muffler on the back of a set of 2.0 heat exchangers.

The 2.0 muffler mounting is physically wider than the 1.7. They dont line up.

the exhaust as a whole (Heat exchangers AND muffler) must be switched out, so you had a 1.7 system to begin with. I didn't have any problems at all with my 1.7 system on a 2.0L engine. There could be a issue with slightly reduced power output (depends on muffler choice mostly IMO) but from what I understand, the stock system isn't the "best" system if you're looking for performance. With a aftermarket system, you will gain power but may lose heat capability.

PS= the other thing that could happen is what Brad said, IE it actually is a 2.0 muffler. You'll know right away if they wont work.
