Is the front hub aluminum or steel......I'm asking about the hub in which the wheel bolts attach to and the disc brake attaches to.

I cant find it. I think they are steel.

I have pics of rotors off and complete detail shots of the suspension on a 986.

This page says that the suspension parts are aluminum.

I'd go look , but the wife has the Boxster now (I got a truck and a 914 out of the deal). cool_shades.gif

Another section of 986faq.com states in a Porsche Tech Bulletin that :


"Only the standard wheel bolts can be used to securely mount the wheels to the vehicle. Boxster wheel bolts with rotating spherical collars are a special design and made from a correspondingly selected alloy for compatibility with standard wheels."

okay but that still doesn't tell us anything.

"alloy" could be 4130 Chromoly steel or 6061 aluminum... or some other kind of combination of metals ...
