Yeah so I guess I got a 916 tranny after all. So I was looking to find out more about it and there wasn't really any information here. Went to pelican parts and darn it the thing stopped working.
Thanks

I *think* a 916 gearbox is a 915 that's been converted for use in a 914 (shift linkage and diff flip [and clutch?]). I also believe the Vellios conversion parts are essentially copies of the 916 parts to allow anyone to convert a 915 themselves.
So, you either have a real 916 gearbox (very rare, worth BIG money), or you have a 915 that's been converted (much less rare, worth decent money).

Well I looked over the build sheets and it appears to be a 916 tranny. I also saw several of Davec's old post where he said it was a 916 tranny. He also told me that but I thought I might have heard him wrong.
But it's just basicaly a 915 tranny of some sort?

From what I remember (all of my references are elsewhere), it's basically a 915, yes. I'm 90% certain the internals are identical, only the case is different, and perhaps only the tail cover is different. Therefore, rebuilding one isn't so hard (any 915 parts will do), just don't damage the case, as you'll never find another.

So what's the model number on the underside of the box where the axles exit ... if it's 923/01, you have a winner !!!

I'm no tranny expert (well, I hardly know anything about trannies), but the 914Club "914 Info" as well as the Johnson say, that the 916 tranny is a 923/01

916 is a 923/01
912E is a 923/02
Or so I told ...

That would make sense I guess because both have a 901 style mainshaft. Just flip the diff. Mine is a 923/02 I believe.

I took some photos. The best part is I think I see where I need to make the adjustment since the wevo shifter needs a slight push to the right to slide into third. Not that big of deal but I always feel nervous throwing it into 4th. I always feel I will nick reverse.
The shifter sorta comes out the bottom/side. And I think this part down below is a tranny cooler.
Well here are the pictures I just took in the dark to speak for themselves.
I think I am gonna order the wevo tranny mounts and the precision shift joint in a couple of weeks.

I book marked it so I can go thru it tomorrow. Lots of good info with tons of pictures.
I think I am gonna attempt to adjust the shifter tomorrow morning at work. Looks like I just adjust that bolt in the first picture. I hope
