Unless someone wants to by my bike, I need to ship it out to the right coast from San Diego to sell it. I was counting on using Forward Air, but I just got quoted $800+. At that price I will make close to nothing on the bike when I do get to sell it. Does anyone know of a inexpensive shipper? It is the height that killed it: 98x32x54" @ 500lbs. If it was 48" instead of 54" I would be able to ship for $600+ (still a but load).

If anyone in the San Diego area is interested in crating or paletizing the bike I can make it worth your while. This may save me some $$$.

If the prices are gonna be that high I am seriously considering flying out and riding it back.....I may not servive the trip so any help would be appreciated huh.gif

I may have a hot rod shipped up to CAMP from San Diego. I could have John put the BMW on his transporter. It would get tme for free. I could then sell it for you? Just a thought.

Dr,
A few months ago, I was very interested in buying a Honda 305 Scrambler on e-Bay and getting it to Cincinnati from Idaho. I'd consider this Honda to be "mid-size" at best, yet when I received quotes/estimates from transportation specialists who advertise in "Panorama" and "Autoweek", I got figures in the $650-$800 range. WTF.gif I know the bike would be transported in a nice comfy trailer, but jeez, an open bed truck wouldn't hurt for about 50% less (or so I'd think). I too, would like to hear of a more cost effective way of getting a motorcycle transported.

Craig, If anyone can sell it in my stead, it would be you. I'll be in touch. This may be a good idea and you would be helping me out big time.

For a mid sized bike, look into Forward Air freight. It would be about $450. there is a link on their site, www.forwardair.com

A scrambler is not a big bike IIRC. The dimentions are on the site with the prices.

I moved my Harley from Denver to Daytona for $250 via rail.

How? Where do I go to find rates and stuff?
