So this guy brings me this motor with a valve stem busted and through the piston. It is a mix of 1.7 and 2.0 parts. The heads I know are 2.0, The crank was 66mm. Anyway, I built a 2.0 litre motor for his '74 914. Now he drags the whole mess over to my place to get it running. I cannot find the sensor that fires the injectors. I would think it comes off the distributor, but there is no reciever for the plug. Is there a plug in for the wire harness for the d-tronic fuel injection at the distibutor on this model? Please advise.

No plug-in sounds like a 1.8 L-jet dizzy.

Look down on the front part of the distributor, right next to the fan shroud. A D-jetronic distributor should have a plug for three wires there. It can be tough to see....

L-jetronic, with the air flow meter attached to the air cleaner, uses the regular ignition points as the signal to open the injectors.
