you NEED bob tomlinson's weber tuning book from cbperformance.com

helps everyone.

In Ontario you don't have to smog a car over 20yrs old...so are you sure it needs to be smogged?

You need a sync meter, it has to be warm, you start it up with one arm off, sync it by just turning the idle stops till thet're in sync. Then replace the arms so they are exactly the same. After that it helps if you have the book Aaron spoke of.

You can get it and a cheap meter in Canada from www.cip1.ca they are just outside of Van

I guess it is not to easy or you would not need a book... dry.gif

my insurance broker would have told me if I did not have to aircare it... but i will
call and check

I will look for a book on it.

also... if each barrel on the same carb doesnt flow the same, you will want to play with air bypass screws...

get the book. it will save you many a headache.

great resource..

At the base of each barrel are two screws. One has a spring and can be turned by hand. It is the mixture volume screw. Next to it is a smaller set screw with a locking nut. That is the air bypass. It is a HUGE mistake to start messing with these without some guidance and a synchrometer. I live by the weber tune-up guide I got from CB's years ago. It won't tell you how to get througha smog check though. In fact, most states will check to see if the original pollution control equipment is in place, if the car is not too old to grandfather in. The actual CO and unburned hydrocrbons and so forth may get checked first though. Could be if you passed this, they would not look, but I'm just thinking ouyt loud...
I would be pretty surprised if you could tune carbs to meet even 1975 standards though. Maybe if you leaned it WAY out, but it might overheat and die during the test.

Clayton swears by the above 2 sites. Says they are exactly how he tunes carbs himself.

Until you get the book, these may point you in the right direction to start.

Here's another for more info

if both barrels on one bank are not even try adjusting your valves 1st before even thinking about tweaking on the air by-pass screws.

Good tight linkage is critical also. and make sure the linkage opens eah carb at the same rate (EVENLY)
That'll drive ya nuts
