I think using the "wrong" term is ..well.. wrong.
There is something in the picture that is not normal.

How cool is it that we just utilized the same frame system that the factory uses to restore cars??
Little things like that make me proud!!

Given your recent experience with the Cellete I'm going to guess (with no evidence to back me up) that maybe they aren't using right jig with the Cellete.

we've got a winner!
brand new suspension console for *both* sides, right side with engine shelf already attached, both also have the reinforcement already welded to it!
and then there's the brand new front hood ...
that's why i'd like to find a contact at "Porsche Classic". looks like they still got a few pieces on the shelves that we common folks don't know about ...

dude, they're german ... nobody is going to tell me squat unless i know someone who knows someone ... calling their 800 number is like talking to my cat, all you get is a blank stare. and that's not a whole lot, considering i'm going to be on the phone with them ...

Still, it would be great if someone who had their car restored by Porsche would give us an idea what it cost. I would think a car restored at the factory would hold it's value better than one restored in somebody's garage. That's not a comment on anyone's work caliber, just public perception of the value the factory provenance adds.

If I sent my 70/4 over with enough euros and asked Porsche Classic to make it a /6,
1) would they do it,
and
2) would I then have a ''factory" /6

As far as I'm concerned it would be a factory six, but that's not a restoration, it's a "restomod". Not sure if they do those & just do restorations.

Yes. Just like they build that /6 on a '75 chassis for a customer. It's still a factory /6 as far as i'm concerned.
I mean, most of the 916s were build using /4 chassis and you don't hear people complaining about that either ...

If Andy has enough Euros, he can have the Factory install a flat eight cylinder and have the third one.
Then no one could catch him on the freeway....
Maybe Karl should go this route as he has all the parts needed to assemble a GT sitting in his garage....then it would be a Factory GT.
When I was at the Factory in 2009 the silver 6 was in the "shop" being worked on. I asked and got the "blank stare" Andy talked about when I asked if I could look at it and the shop....
