Can you come up to Costa Mesa?
Might be able to machine AND balance your entire assembly for cheap.
Pistons, crank, rods, piston/pins, flywheel and PP. On a Sunnen balancer complete with gram scale and the RIGHT tools to do the job.
My friend and machinist works on saturdays. I could ask him for the favor.
If interested..... Leave a message here or PM me for phone number.

WOW wouldn't that be great.
at the moment its only got down to the pistons, but was going to check the play on the flywheel thrust bearing this weekend to try and decide whether i should split the case and do the whole shebang while its out.
I'm kinda hoping the bottom end is still as solid as i was led to believe.
I'll get back to you after the weekend.
Thanks man!

My mail lady looks at me weird because I always have the package weight written on the box down to the gram. She doesn't even weigh my packages anymore.

I have and Ohaus triple beam scale from way back..

Brer,
the shop has a triple beam you can use. Otherwise you will need to visit a paint store for a digital scale.
The local balance shop charges $100 for all rotating and reciprocating parts associated with an engine.

I picked up a postal grade digital scale for $19 at Staples for weighing out model airplane parts for ultra light electrics. Measures down to .1 grams.

how fine is the triple beam?
postal scales are accurate correct? Fry's has one that i could use for a fair price.
