Ok guys tell me your story.
I ahev a factory 2.ol fan shroud(thanks to mark henry)i have a factory cooling fan and a factory altanator all in mint shape so why when i put it all back together does the alt sit out 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch to far and a tad bit crooked.
i have ajusted as much as factory will alow and it won't move back any farther due to the head.
Will this be off enough to cause me to throw belt all the time.vey concerned because i wont find out till i put it all back in the car.DD gave me some advicw but i ran out of adjustment room.

I had the same problem with my 76 2.0.
The mechanic figured out that the previous owner had the alt pulley on backwards.
Hope it helps.
DO NOT put the engine back in until you figure it out, it will throw belts and it is a real pain in the a..

I had a similar thing, turned out there was a spacer on the fan for the A/C. The A/C had been removed long ago, so I wasn't even thinking about that.
