I'll be at Buttonwillow June 23rd through June 25th for an open track day Friday June 23rd with PCA's Central Coast Region and the Golden Gate Region's Time Trial Saturday and Sunday June 24th and 25th.

I hear the the CCR Friday DE is light on drivers. If you want to get in a DE day there will be plenty of track time. Check here for info

PCA - CCCR DE @ Buttonwillow Friday June 23rd

So who all will be joining me?

DanT
sorry Bill, won't be there....family vacation the next week plus I don't want to kill any more mosquitos sad.gif

Have fun for 3 days...hopefully the weather won't be too hot smile.gif

Thanks Dan.

I'm actually ok with it being hot....I need to test out Fritz in some heat and see how hot the car rally gets while in action on a hot track.

Will you be instructing at the 2 day AX school? It looks like I'll be in town, so I will probably volunteer to help out.

Bill P.
DanT
Yep, I'll be there....this will be like year #15 for me.

This should be some good weather to test for hot running.

i was all up for going, but the student fee and the worker fee have kept me away. $585 for a day and 1/2 of driving? + $45 to camp? yikes... PCA events are very well-run from what i've seen -- and the instruction is excellent -- but it's still a bit rich for me. i can get my (much needed) seat-time for less elsewhere.

i'll be up at Thunderhill at the 22nd with Hookedondriving -- and then again on July 6 and 7 with perfectline and unlimitedlaps.
DanT
hey Nathan,

Buying a single axle trailer this weekend? biggrin.gif

How did you come with $585 for the TT?

$235 for entry and $75 for worker fee....and you only pay for camping fee if you have an RV that gets hooked up to electricity.
Tents and backs of Suvs or Pickups don't pay camping fee.
nine14cats
Hi Nathan,

I'm confused where you got the $585? confused24.gif Are you adding the student fee and entry fee together? The student fee is your entry fee plus the additional $40 for being a student.

$275 student fee (includes entry fee)
$75 worker fee
$0 camping
$20 dinner
$15 for transponder rental if you time trial
-----

$380 for the event if you pay for dinner and the transponder, $345 if you don't do dinner and the TT.

lol dan.... yeah, i'm buyin' a trailer this weekend. looking foward to not changing tires in the paddock.

235 basic fee
275 newbie fee (that's the kicker)
75 worker fee

good to know that there's no camper-shell camping fee. keeps young guys like me in business.

i realize the 275 is a one-time only fee, and i'll bite the bullet eventually. i also realize that it's money well-spent, in terms of the quality of instruction. still, i have a limited amount of time off this summer, and a limited amount of money to spend, so i'm looking to maximize my seat-time until the paychecks start rolling in again.\

i'll be out there soon, begging you for rides and instruction...
nebreitling
OH! well, i'm a dipshit... i'd heard that the student fee was on top of the entry from someone in PCA who was obviously mistaken.... this is a relief.

i'm still out for buttonwillow, though...

Hi Nathan,

The $275 is a student fee....but it includes the $235 basic fee. You don't pay both. I know it's not clear on the form, but if that were the case, GGR would never get another new student..... laugh.gif

Bill P.
nebreitling
lmfao... i thought it was a bit 'excessive'.

Nathan

If you buy the trailer from Ken you are getting a nice set up for a 914.

914 fits like a glove...it should since that trailer was custom built just for 914s biggrin.gif

My car has been on that trailer several times....twice for to and from body shop and once to TH to try and get some interest in it from Time trialers.

Works great....especially wtih the winch to get the car up on the trailer instead of trying to drive it up.
nebreitling
got it.

yeah, i'm looking foward to it. Ken was quite kind and took some very thorough measurements of the trailer for me. it will JUST fit into the tiny entry of my garage (typical San Francisco home with extra small garage door).

nebreitling
BTW -- neither of you guys are interested in the Hoopa hillclimb with Randal and I (and hopefully Grant and Trekkor)? I realize it's the same w/e as the T-Hill TT.
nine14cats
Hi Nathan,

I would have been at the Hill Climb co-driving Fritz with Randal. But it conflicts with the TT series. I made my own committment to myself to run 1 series this year, since I was down for 1.5 years. I already know I'll miss the last event of the year due to a vacation, so I need the points to qualify for an official standing.

Hopefully next year's Hill Climb will not conflict with anything.

Bill P.
nebreitling
cool, i understand. i've always wanted to run a hillclimb -- can't wait for it.

Cant make it to this - work is just killing my driving season this year. I will be at Hoopla if the car is running and the stars align at work. Should be fun since I drive hillclimbs every day on my way home.

Hi Greg,

It will be great to see you and your son at BW. You're invited to use my trailer and canopy setup for shade during the weekend. I'll have the rig setup near the BW tire shop, feel free to join me.

For that matter, any 914 Club members can join us. You can store your gear in my 20 foot enclosed trailer!

I'm trying to make it. I just need to put bigger calipers on the front, turbo tie rods, rack spacers, monoballs on the F strut tops, solid suspension bushings F&R, modify my rear trailng arm pickup points for more -camber, align the car, install an Accusump, wash the car, fix my trailer, wash my truck and install a new battery in the truck by Thursday, and then I can go.
As you can see, I've been procrastinating.
I should be working on something instead of 914clubbing.
Fortunately, I already have most of the parts here.

Bill,
Thanks for the hospitality - appreciate your offer. We will look for your rig near the tire shop and try to setup nearby.

Bill and Greg - wow, hotter than hades but worth every ounce of perspiration. You guys were great neighbors and the event was a wonderful time for Mike and me. We shaved a few seconds off our lap times and a BUNCH OF RUBBER off the Hoosiers. Bill, recall the 25 heat cycles we counted up...when we got home and pulled the race tires - the rear passenger side was corded big time. No wonder Mike did the 360 at Turn 4 Sun morning....we were driving on the steel belts by then. Can't wait for the next event with fresh AVON's most likely. Thanks for the tip Greg. Wished we could have done more laps together before you heated the motor. Great time for both Me and Mike.

We had a great time too! It was great to have the 914club members pitting together. Tricia & I, Greg & Mike W & Bill P drunk.gif

Great cooling test for air cooled motors @ 115 Degrees in the shade! Greg & Mike did the best with maintaining a 210 oil temp!

Going to replace the Perma-Cool with the Fluidyne since I could only get 3 laps before the oil temp passed 230 quickly on it's way up!

Also just posted my Vortex Generator test results. What a success!

We've got a pic of 4 914s on Grid and will post later today when Tricia gets home with the camera.
