So what's the easiest way to remove the arms?

I'm assuming that you unbolt it at the outboard side from the pan and then remove the nut on the inboard side...

yes, you unbolt the 3 bolts 1st, then the 22mm (7.8" for sure) nut on the "ear"...be careful, it's a heavy assembly
