I've been trying to educate myself about AARs and I keep getting frustrated. Searching this BBS has been no help since your search term has to be at least 4 characters.

Anyway, does anyone know the technical specs (or differences) on the following Auxiliary Air Regulators (Bosch part numbers):

0 280 140 007 This is the one originally delivered in 914s and is NLA. The Porsche part number was 022 906 045.

0 280 140 101 for 73-74 2.0L according to Bosch

0 280 141 011 for 1.7L according to Bosch

if you're having problems with it, just leave it off and plugg the hoses.
(do the same with that damm decel-valve)

The only info I have on the AAR is this. If you find a suitable replacement for the d-jet AAR, I'd be very interested in buying one.

They fail in one of three ways:

1. the wire breaks going into the bottom of the unit
2. the rotating piece inside corrodes and doesnt move
3. the heating element breaks (rarely)

I have only ran across one or 2 that I couldnt bring back to life. If the wire isnt broken and the heating element is not broken.. they will work fine.

Just for reference.. its a controlled vacuum leak on the 1.7 and 2.0. Very easy to duplicate.

The 914 1.7 and 2.0 AAR are not even hooked up to the fuel injection system. The power comes from the main ignition harness plugged into the relay board.

That's what spurred my interest. Bosch still makes the 0 280 140 101 and the 0 280 141 011. They are readily available at reasonable prices. I'm just trying to figure out how they may differ from the 0 280 140 007 .

Brad Ander's site references the 101 and the 011, but provides no detail on them. The Bosch site has no technical info on them either.

The blueprints for all this stuff must be in some warehouse in Germany, we just need someone to in there and steal it all!

CIS water VW's had one too, there are probably recycling yards full of them, as well as available through reseller channels. those were typically 1,8-liter engines so should be a reasonable compromise... donno how much different they can be - how much air they flow, how fast the shutter closes ...

Why don't you ask the Bosch Service Center? They should be able to produce these data from file.

In case of my 1.8 L-jet, the Porsche 944 AAR is said to be a direct replacement...

Have you tried asking OTTO? He has been around these things along time. What about George from AA? Very knowledgeable as well.
