Why, it's that Californian relocated & happy! driving.gif

Just a few pics from Sunday's AX. One of the pics Britain is slaving whilst JP stands above jsharp.gif

Gary Chapman does some wild driving in his Red 3.2 and Britain ran a superfast 44.0. gary was close behind with a 41 sumpin.

Most all got beat by the Z06 with a WRX right behind.....

enjoy...... b beerchug.gif
biggy72
What color was the Z06? There was a white one over that ran in Spokane and at the Tri Cities that was real quick. His name is Norm something, I could find it but that'd take effort. Real quick car that's for sure.
seanery
Is Britain driving ULF? If so, damn he's lucky wub.gif
Bruce Allert
The Z06 is red and was driven by Kotzean. I think his name is Doug. He holds neumerous ax titles... I'm thinking (maybe) national? JP knows for sure.

Sean, yup, he teamed with JP in ULF. He drives the shit outta it just like JP.
Jim chambers got to drive it for 2 runs. Said it was scary!!! shocked[1].gif

Had a good turnout and even got in 6 runs.

As always, great pics, Bruce.

Red ZO6. His name is Tom Kotzian. Guy is about 60 years old and schooled all of us. Has several Solo II national championships. Beat all of us by over 2 secs.

Here's the run down:

Tom Kotzian ZO6 41.724 Very nice guy, humble, National Champ
John McCuskey '72 240Z 42.098 Very nice guy, well sorted full race prepared car,
Ryan Otis ' 05 WRX 43.954 Very fast driver, prepared "lease car"
Britain Smith ULF (shitbox) 44.051
Gary Chapman 914-6 (#99) 44.252
James Paulson '04 WRX 44.312
JP Stein ULF (shitbox) 44.577

I had a great day Sunday. My first top 5 with a good field to compete against. Held TTOD for a couple of hours. You should have seen Britain and JP squirming. I'm just starting to get the feel of this new car, basically spun out my last two a/x's. Love the 3.2 power, very linear, good low end torque. I need to do some suspension work to get it set up right. Still waffling on the steel flares for more rubber. The car looks so good as it is. Running Kuhmo v710's at 215 width. Sure would like those 10 inch wheels on the back like JP has........

WCC next weekend. Portland is ready. Bring it on!

Stay narrow Gary!

It is more impressive when you beat them!!..LOL

Britain is getting fat.

I did notice the car had quite a bit of body lean in one of the pics.

Torque RULES in AutoX. Ask the Z06 guy and everyone else that runs a Vette.

One more event and you will be beating B+JP.

The 915 has perfect ratios for the 3.2 with your tire.

Good job!

agree.gif Forget the flares, deal with the body roll. See flat 914 on the left.

We never quit. We now have enuff information to do some tweakin' to the suspension. Some more front roll stiffness is in order. The car is a bit of a handfull
as is. Gary is a good driver......but we both will get him next time biggrin.gif

Give me the details JP.. popcorn[1].gif

Understeer in low speed or high speed corners?

Oversteer in low speed exit or high speed exit?

Do tell.. this is when it gets fun.

Oversteer..... under power, drop throttle, tight corners or sweepers, hot tires, cold tires......that pretty well covers it biggrin.gif
Brad Roberts
Lighting off the rear tires huh? Even with the posi?

B
J P Stein
No posi.......
Brad Roberts
Dude,

I thought you where best friends with BillP now? Hasnt he taught you anything?

I think I have a welded diff you can use if you like. Works well with high HP cars.. not so good with a 4 pooper.

How is your son? How are you?

You need some more meat on your legs. Looking kinda scrawny. I know your wife is a good cook!!

B
Porsche Rescue
I am far from an expert on this stuff, but I drove JP's car for the first time yesterday (and very timidly he said), and it really felt loose in the rear, almost like I was on ice. My car is not as powerful (stock 2.7) or as light, but my 205's sure seem to stick better. ULF steers with the throttle (maybe that is a good thing).
Brad Roberts
Which tires are you running in the rear?

What are the hot pressures?

Anyone done tire temps for you recently?

I wish I could come up and see you guys'.

B
J P Stein
I'll pass on the welded diff, thanks. I'd like to have a torque biasing diff, but the Guard I ordered last November never showed up..... confused24.gif
No big changes durring the season....just tweaks....so a TB diff will have to wait till next winter....prolly a Quiafe
J P Stein
R35 Hoosier 10 inchers in the back......9.5 inch R35 cantis in front.
20 lbs front & holding when hot (warm, really)....down to 17 psi rear when hot.
-.5 negative camber f&r. Could prolly use a bit more camber in the front, but front bite is not a problem.
Brad Roberts
Yep. Oversteer is an issue easily dealt with. You should be adjusting that car for each event with little tweaks here and there.

I made a sway bar change to the 4 pooper I was running this past weekend and dropped a full second. It wouldnt turn in. Loosened the front bar.. and almost wiped out all the cones on the inside of the first turn on my first pass after the change..LOL Now it turned in. I forgot it was setup for sticky Kuhmo's.. the setup didnt work AT all on Yoko street tires!

I had fun.

Brad Roberts
17 rear?

When they are at 17 what is the tire temp spread across the face?

Have you tried 21-22? in the rear? hot?

No pyrometer.....but they seem consistent to the touch.
Ayup, tried everything. 17 was best yesterday. I'm reluctant to go less without taking temps.
Brad Roberts
I'd be afraid that the inside isnt getting hot with 17.

Sounds like the car is running good for you.

Has Britain annoyed the hell out of you yet?

The kid has more energy than anyone I have met.

He likes to get shit done (which is good)

Not really....we have an agreement. He can babble all he wants and I don't have to listen...seems fair enuff biggrin.gif
Gotta admit tho, I should pay more attention to some of his stuff. He tole me the quick way around a couple AXs ago & I didn't listen till it was too late.
I tole him the same thing this last one & he listened/whipped my ass.....oops. laugh.gif
Sammy
Brad, you tryin to say that JP has lucky legs? wink.gif
Brad Roberts
HUm.. thin legs.. this means he could get on the gas quicker..LOL

B
J P Stein
Them's old man's legs.
If you start taking better care of yourself you may end up with a pair.
Brad Roberts
Luckily I played a whole bunch of Vball in the past. It forever changed my calves.

Damn. I miss hanging out in your garage BS'ing with the gang!

Nice pic's Bruce.

If this had been SCCA the final result would've looked a tad different.

Me & my lowly 2.2 within 1 tenth of young Gary. As it was you all did good getting into the 44's clap56.gif . See ya'll next week.
Bruce Allert
Thanks Trevor beer.gif I want to appologize for not having more pics of you. I thought I took a half dozen of everyone but all I got of you was in the line up.

I'm always impressed by your car.

Here you are in the car getting ready to go out and the next one is beside Gary Chapmans red 3.2.

See ya Friday at...
