ok, i just downloaded the Assembler Source Code for the MegaSquirt fuel injection.
at first glance it looks clean and pretty straight forward.

one point of possible improvement i see right away is the "linear interpolation" for "Warm-up and After-start Enrichment" which uses 10 reference points.

if only i had the money for a /6, i would gladly donate my current engine for prototyping

for those who are interested, the MS runs a 8MHz Motorola 68HC908GP32 CPU, 8-Bit, with 32k of flash memory and 512 bytes of user RAM. programable interrupts, several 32-bit I/O lines and other goodies.

i have not counted the actual code size, but it is way less than 32k, soooo, there seems to be a lot of space for some nice additional code.

this will be a fun project!

Collectively, the members of this board could probably make an EFI system for the teener. Some could do the electronics, others could do the software etc.

All of my .inc, .asm and .s19 files are Here. These include lookup tables for the stock CHT and IAT. The board is pretty easy. For a stock 2.0L all my data should plug in and run pretty darned well. People with non stock setups would need wide band O2 for tuning and dyno time to get it just right.

I have a programmer for the chip so I can burn the firmware on blank chips.

Wait til spring and I'll have an ignition system on the board too.

That's correct. Still under developement and that's a 2 edged sword. They work really hard to turn out something that is good but it takes a lot of time and these guys do day jobs. So, things kind of hang out in the "it's on the way" portion of the universe.

It's still a bunch of systems that are being tested. The board hasn't been designed yet

I want a UMS but I'm planning on still using my Megasquirt.

On a totally different subject does anyone know a good place to get oxygen sensor connectors for the Bosch LSU4? I just ordered a wideband O2 sensor kit and I need to build my own harness. The sensors should be here today.
They are the same kind as used in late model VW 1.8T's I think.

Oh also if anyone has suggestions for where to put an O2 sensor on a 2.0 exhaust system let me know... Next time I am visiting my friend with a welder in SLO I will see if we can add a bung. I guess the exhaust has to come off. #@*&^@

It depends on whether you want to register 2 cyls or 4 on the O2 sensor. Most stock teener exhausts don't converge until the pipes just prior to the muffler. Perhaps a popular exhaust builder there in CA would offer an O2 option on the 914 muffler! Not sure where Dave has his plugged in.

Have you been hiding? I've been trying to corner you on the source of the 6-Ohm 10-Watt resistors you use in line with the injectors. Or is this an secret family recipe?

For a clean install... you will have to pull a Bursch off. Stock muffler..and your guess is as good as mine.

Are you sure he isnt using that resistor inline with the head temp sensor ??

why put it on the muffler, why not the he's?

You want all 4cyl's. The Bursch has a nice fat collector for this. If I use the HE's.. I would have to have 4 sensors.

Couldnt you create some sort of plate w/bung that would mount between HE's and ANY muffler? Then your down to 2.

Most of the mufflers fit the rear valence really tight. Not much room to add 1 inch and another gasket.

I do like the idea however.

The Triad muffler could have dual O2's mounted to it. He uses a "squished" collector where the HE's meet the flange.

Where did you buy this sensor kit? How much was it? Do you have a link?

I put mine in the collector prior to the muffler so I could get all 4 cylinders.

The resistors are in series with the injectors to limit the current to them. 6 ohm works finr but they have to handle a fair amount of power therefore 10 watts. I got them at the local electronics store (not Radioshack) asked for 6 ohm 10 watt. No problem. I 'll look tonight for a part number

I don't really see the difference. If you mount it in the muffler, then it's an average of the four cylinders.
If it's on one of the 4 he pipes its accurate for 1 cylinder. Which is worse?

I don't know what muffler I have but there is a collector like the Bursch. Maybe it's a Bursch setup with a different muffler welded in. I need to take a closer look.

Sean.. you could have 3 lean cylinders and not know it (by reading only two or one of them).

Guys get under the car and see the first place where all the pipes come together. Select a spot where the O2 sensor is vertical or nearly so. Take the muffler off an take it to a muffler shop and have them weld in an O2 bung. Cost me 20 bucks at a Walt's. Wire it up.

I did a second bung out the back at the same approximate spot for the sensor at the dyno spot. That way I could calibrate it relative to the dyno. Mine was spot on.

A stock system with the fueling map installed should run well without O2. The D-jet does. I haven't looked at any O2 figures since June.

Any changes from stock would require O2. Maybe it could be an option that could be added

I am hoping to use my wbo2 setup as a tuning tool and substitute for a dyno. Now I can use my day to day driving as a dyno setup to check mixture etc. It will help me make sure D-jet is working right and if I ever switch to megasquirt it will help me set up the tables. (But I would probably need a few dyno runs at that point.)

Dave, I agree with you here. I'm planning my first go-around with the MS as an open-loop system. With a little dyno time to work it out across the load and temp ranges, I hoping for more flexible results than the D-Jet can give me with this WEB #73 cam.

Thanks for checking on the resistors for me. Was it an electronics chain store? An what type of casing do the resistors have? - I've seen several types.
