I have an extra front one for you. I'll paint it up and get it to you.

that'd be great, randal!

I just welded this onto a car that I'm working on.This is a manufactured towhook that is designed to bolt to the F torsion bar caps on 911's or 914's. I got it from strasseusa.com, he's a friend. I cut about 2/3 of the mounting flange of the hook off, welded through the hole, and welded the cut edge to the hump on the stock towhook boss. I'll install the unmolested hook on the front, I'll tie it into the cage reinforcement plates when we get them done. I'm going to slot the fiberglass bumpers to accept the towhooks.

Let's see, how about yellow or red or silver? What color should I use?

This ought to work Nathan. Now we have to figure out how to get it to you.

I've just added a few more "standard" units in the race section of my website that might be of use to fellow 914 owners. The idea of mounting to the sway bar pickup point in the rear is a good one. Many race sanctioning bodies say that the hooks/eyes must not protrude from the bumpers. SCCA is very strict. PCA seems to be very flexible in my area (TX) and it has not been a big issue.

The next step would be to make the eye hinge down like the units I build for C5 Corvettes. I haven't made 914 race units for the masses as there are so many bumper/spoiler combinations used, but would consider it if there was enough interest.

Great idea!

looks great randal, thanks!

let's meet somewhere near you where i can buy you a beer... maybe a 914-group beerfest at the tied house?

I have home made tow hooks on both front and rear.

front is aluminum (for weight):

rear is steel that we heated with an oxy torch, and then wrapped around a pipe to make it round. Started as a threaded rod:
