hi all,
I have a new guy question. I seem to be missing two bolts (and washers) that connect the auxillary support to the front floor. I checked the haynes manual and they seem to be missing theirs too. Does anybody know what size and type they are supposed to be? Or where I can get the correct bolt? Any help would be greatly appreciated. -b

Define "aux.carrier". The term is unfamiliar to me. The Cap'n

Click to view attachmentThe term is unfamiliar to me too. It's what haynes is calling it. the bar that holds the a-rms from folding in on each other. Sorry for the confusion. I'm new to 914's and message boards. (doubley screwed)

So much for Haynes. They're better than the rest, but that doesn't mean much. That's the subframe that holds the torsion bars and steering rack. Those 2 bolts are 10mm x 1.50, about 20mm in length, and take a 17mm wrench (#46). There should also be a flat washer and a split lock washer under each one, and there's a cover (#49) that they hold in place. The Cap'n

It looks to me that 46, 47 and 48 are what you need, and 49 is the cover. The cover is held on thy those two bolts, and two smaller ones in the front. The main purpose of the cover is to give rodents a nice place to nest. smile.gif

Thanks for the help fellas Perhaps the rats traded all the corn in my seats for the bolts and cover.
definately apreciated. b

If you look at the Haynes diagram, the cover plate has 2 vertical tabs in front held on by the smaller bolts. After I got my 914, I noticed 2 thin and rusty square washers under those small bolts - the square "washers" were actually the broken-off tabs for the cover, which likely rusted away into oblivoin. beerchug.gif
